Oracle today announced its collaboration with West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited (WEBEL), a Government of West Bengal undertaking, to bolster the state’s digital workforce by training 15,000 students and professionals in the latest digital technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, cybersecurity and data science by 2029. Through the collaboration with WEBEL, Oracle is enhancing employability and helping advance the careers of the state’s future workforce. Additionally, Oracle University, the company’s comprehensive training and enablement provider, will offer learners training and certifications in key digital skills. This will equip West Bengal’s digital talent pool with essential skills for tomorrow’s technology-driven careers.

“As we advance our agenda to provide employment, increase research and development, manufacturing and consulting services, the state government continues its mission to empower the next generation of technologists and innovators in West Bengal,” said Babul Supriyo, minister-in-charge, Department of IT and Electronics, Government of West Bengal. “I am delighted about our collaboration with Oracle, which will help equip students and youth in West Bengal with the resources and guidance they need to thrive in the digital era.”

“Oracle is committed to building future-ready talent to support India’s growing digital economy through access to world-class learning and skills,” said Shailender Kumar, senior vice president and regional managing director, Oracle India and NetSuite JAPAC. “By collaborating with WEBEL, we are combining Oracle’s global expertise and curriculum with WEBEL’s strong local reach to help West Bengal’s youth gain future-ready skills. This initiative will provide thousands of young people access to high-quality learning pathways that directly contribute to regional economic growth and innovation.”

As part of this collaboration, Oracle will provide each learner with more than 200 hours of training and certifications over the next three years. The program will be delivered for free as a digital learning experience through Oracle MyLearn, Oracle’s comprehensive training and enablement platform used by millions of technology trainees around the world. It offers rigorous foundational training in data-driven technologies that will channel learners to professional-level training and certifications in areas such as AI, cloud, cybersecurity and data science. The program covers critical technology domains including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle AI Services, OCI Generative AI, OCI Data Science, Oracle APEX, OCI DevOps, and Oracle Security.

Oracle University provides access to some of the world’s leading technology experts and practitioners to support cloud technology training and certification worldwide. More than 20 million hours of Oracle University learning content have been viewed by learners globally, and the program has trained more than 3.1 million Oracle certified professionals in the global workforce, including India.
